We love our fantastic volunteers. The Kentucky Classic Combined Driving Event would not be the wonderful event that it is without them!

Once you turn onto Tarr Road, it will be the second set of Hillcroft Farm gates on your left. Directional signage will also be present to assist you, and direct you to the volunteer parking area and headquarters.

Dressage

Gate StewardResponsible for opening and closing the gate into the main dressage arena for each competitor.
You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and the show office. You will be instructed on the use of the radio.
Recommendation: Bring a chair with you, as well as bug spray or whatever is necessary for you to have a comfortable day outside.

ScribeWrite the judge’s comments and marks for each competitor at the event. You will be provided with all of the equipment that you will need for the day on the morning of the event. You will be sitting with the judge in the judges box.
Good writing and listening skills are required for this job. This job also requires confidentiality, so you may not discuss anything that is said by the judge with anyone.

Warm-Up StewardResponsible for controlling the flow of competitors from the warm-up area to the main dressage arena.
You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and the show office. You will be instructed on the use of the radio.
Recommendation: Bring a chair with you, as well as bug spray or whatever is necessary for you to have a comfortable day outside.

You will be provided with a golf cart for this purpose.

Wheel Measurement AssistantAssists the FEI Steward with wheel measurement and records each measurement on the paperwork provided.
You will be required to stand for short periods of time and bend over to use a measuring stick. You will be also required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and the show office. You will be instructed on the use of the radio.

Obstacle Observer/JudgeResponsible for observing the path/track that each competitor takes through the assigned driving obstacle. You will be “briefed” the morning of the competition on what to look for.

Vet Box TimerResponsible for timing each competitor as they enter the vet box. Competitors are allowed 10 minutes in the vet box. You are responsible for keeping track of the time and letting each competitor know when their time is up and that they have to proceed to the Start of Section B. You will be “briefed” on the procedure to use by the vet that has been assigned to the vet box the morning of the event.Khaki’s

Vet Box ScribeResponsible for writing down the temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) of each equine that comes into the vet box. The vet takes these measurements and relays them to the scribe. Good writing and listening skills are a plus.

Cones

Cones SetterChange the distance between the cones for competitors based on the size of their competition vehicle. You will be given a measuring stick and instructed on its use to adjust the cones. Good listening skills are a plus.
You will be standing and bending over to adjust the cones approximately every 4 to 5 minutes, and you should figure on about 5-6 hours of competition.
You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the Cones Steward to give you the correct setting for the cones. You will be instructed on the use of the radio.
